Candidates Jay Allen and Jerry Schmidt, who emerged as the top two vote-getters in the March 5, 2024 primary, are seeking election to the office of Dickens County Sheriff, as current sheriffTerry Braly announced last fall that he would not run again. Both candidates have been invited to participate in a Meet the Candidates forum next Thursday night, May 16, at the Spur Community Center at 6 p.m., sponsored by The Texas Spur and The Spur Area Chamber of Commerce. Audience members will be encouraged to submit their questions anonymously via the moderator. Kay Ellington, publisher of The Texas Spur, will serve as moderator. Light refreshments will be served; all are welcome.
