In their second meet of the season, all the girls improved their times on a more difficult course. Olivia Ortiz earned a medal, with a 14:41 time for 24th place.
TheJaytonHighSchool Varsity Cross Country teams competed in the Lubbock Invitational at Mae Simmons Park. The Lady Jays finished 4th, with Jace Chisum taking first place. The Jaybirds posted great individual times as well taking home the championship.
On Tuesday, Aug. 27, the Spur junior varsity Bulldogs traveled to Hermleigh to play the first game of their season. Spur fans and athletes alike are excited to have enough players to field a JV team this season.
Scramble results, Aug. 27. It was a beautiful and fun evening for the weekly Tuesday Scramble. It was so much better than the “sweatfest” of the previous week! We had 37 scramblers show up to participate and 8 teams were formed.
In 2018 the City of Paducah discovered that its municipal pool had a huge water leak underneath, and staff suspected there might be voids near the drain. The cost to fix the pool was going to be hundreds of thousands of dollars. and the city did not have the financial resources to repair and reopen the pool or to build a new one. So the arid West Texas town has been without a public swimming pool for six years.
