Ellen Marie Byrd, 1942–2020

Marie Byrd gained her wings on Saturday March 21, 2020, surrounded by her children after a long battle with cancer. Marie was born on March 31, 1942, to Fon and Vivian Shaw. She was the 13th of 14 children. She is survived by her children, Vickie Tiner of Dickens, Texas, and Tim Paty of Farmersville, Texas; sisters Lillie Mae Davis, Flora Lee Nixon and Corine McDowell; brothers Dean Shaw and Dennis Shaw; nine grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Milford Byrd; son Wayne Teague; and siblings Gustine, Darrell, Donnie, Tommy and Cliff.

Marie looked forward to the family reunion every year, and enjoyed making her famous wild plum and apricot jelly and watching everyone bid on it during the auction. Her next favorite activity was country and western music/dancing.

A memorial service will be held at the Dickens Cemetery at a later date for family and friends.
