Larissa Lee Burroughs (Place), 1979–2022
Larissa Lee Burroughs (Place) is now free after a long battle with cancer. She was born May 23, 1979 to Larry and Donna Place in Louisville, Kentucky. She attended several schools as a child before graduating from Manheim Township High School and then going on to graduate from her beloved Penn State in 2002.
To know Larissa was to know one of the kindest people on earth. With her big smile and bigger personality, she was loudly and unabashedly herself in every way, and no one that met her failed to recognize what an amazing human they saw. Larissa loved adventure and traveling, she loved snorkeling, hunting, musicals, baking the most delicious cakes and treats, and watching all of her favorite sports teams.
She married the love of her life, Rory Burroughs, on May 4, 2022. Together, they worked to build a successful business, Larissa even got her real estate license, to help Rory with residential listings. She had worked in the corporate world, for Kia, Audi, and Bose, before moving to local businesses, Ludlum Measurement, Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development, and most recently for Texas Department of Agriculture.
She is survived by her husband, Rory; her parents; her sister Lindsay Fulk (Mike); her niece and nephew Casey and Dakota; and her furry kids Petunia, Clover and Mesquite.
As she wished, a party will be thrown in her honor on June 11, 2022, at the Rotan Community Center. Memorial donations may be made in her name to Saving Grace Pitbull Rescue of Lubbock or Lonestar Bulldog Rescue of DFW.
