Larry Bee (Shorty) Martin
was born in Lamesa, Texas on October 9, 1950. He passed from this life on January 26, 2025, at the age of 74. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nan Clayton Martin; his parents, Everett L Martin and Frances Graves Martin; and a brother, Everett L. (Hoss) Martin, Jr.
Larry graduated from Spur High School (Class of 1969) and followed his older brother to Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas. Upon graduation from there, he returned to Spur and went into the Gulf Oil distributorship business with his dad and was a member of the Spur Volunteer Fire Department. While at Sul Ross he met Scott Clayton from Borden County, Texas, who introduced him to his sister, Nan. Larry and Nan were married January 15, 1977, and began raising their daughters Aimee and Katie, in Spur and later moved to Lubbock after selling their business. After their daughters graduated from high school they moved to their Borden County ranch with their beloved pets and lived the remainder of their days traveling and following their grandchildren to their events.
Larry is survived by his loving daughters, Aimee (Stephen) Rocha of Aledo and Katie (Rusty) Redwine of Borden County and his adoring grandchildren: Madison, Reece, Brycen, and Riley.
He also leaves behind his sister, Barbara (Charles) Hardin of Post and sister-in-law Sharon Martin of Spur, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with Elizabeth Abraham officiating. Following the service, friends and family are welcome to a reception at C&M Ranch in Borden County. Arrangements are under the care of Branon Funeral Home.
