Mary Lou McKay

Mary Lou McKay, 88, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019. She was born Mary Lou Denison Sept. 16, 1931, in Sanger, Denton County, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack McKay; parents, Fred & Mary (Owen) Denison; brothers, Fred Jr., Tommy Dean and James Way-man Denison; sisters, Ruby Sullivan, Beulah Copeland, Marie Paul and Helen Rindal; and her great-grandson Drake Justus.

Mary Lou was raised in a small farming community in Denton County. Her childhood was spent helping her mother in the kitchen and daddy in the fields.

She married Jack McKay on May 6, 1956, and they moved to Dallas where they raised their family. They moved to Spur in 1977 where they owned and operated the Spur Super Market until 1991.

Mary Lou (Denison) McKay is survived by two daughters, Sherry Lynn Hart of McKinney, Texas and Donna Elise Stewart of Spur, Texas; four grandchildren, Joseph Hart, Brandy Price, Neely Justus and Carly Stewart; and five great-grandchildren, Trevor McCloud, Brittany Tidwell, Jillian Hart, and Piper and Parker Justus.

A graveside service was held on Sept. 26, 2019 at the Spur Memorial Cemetery, with Richard Stewart officiating under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home.
