Ruth York
It is with great sadness that the family of Ima Ruth Sweet York announce her passing on Oct. 5, 2018 at the age of 90.
Ruth was born March 28, 1928 in Leedey, OK, the second child of Alva and Ola Sweet. Ruth married Buster York in Stephenville, TX June 4, 1946. Buster and Ruth moved to West Texas and started their family living in the Post and Canyon Valley area, and finally moving to Spur in 1973.
Ruth was very devoted to her family. She lived a life of service to the Lord and was always caring for others with her kind and gentle spirit.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Clara Ruth Butler (Jerry Don) of Spur, Tommie Faye Boswell of Missoula, MT, Debra Kay Wilson (Travis) of Lubbock, Dora Maye Hood (Wayland) of Lubbock. Ruth will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Richard Boswell (Jennifer), Janelle Rosas, Justin Boswell, Belinda Clifton, Chris Green, Rodney Boswell, Jennifer Konkler, Kristie Green, Matthew Clifton, Davis Hood and Stephenie Hood. Ruth was blessed with 19 great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Buster, in 2001, daughter Ruby Lee Clifton in 2016, father Alva, mother Ola, brothers Walter and Johnny, and sister Ruby Lawrence.
A visitation was held Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Zapata Funeral Home, 602 Burlington Spur, TX. Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 10 at First Baptist Church, 120 W 2nd, Spur, followed by interment at the Spur Memorial Cemetery.
