Harland (Tod) Weaver

Judge Harland (Tod) Weaver, 94, passed away Nov. 20, 2018. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at 400 Freeport Parkway, Coppell, Texas with burial following at Parker Memorial Cemetery, Grapevine.

Harland was born Aug. 12, 1924 in Dickens County, Texas. He was born to Newton E. and Celia Weaver. He first married Virginia Sterrett and they were blessed with four children: Tim, Shane, Leigh Ann and John. Later, he married Delores Beall Hutchins.

In 1939 Harland began living with his sister and brother-in-law, Gordon and Lola Mae Parks in the Highway Community. He enjoyed being raised with their children, Yuba Lee and Lola Beth Parks. Harland was a senior in December of 1941 when the attack on Pearl Harbor brought the country into World War II. Harland was very active in school, very involved in FFA, was quarterback of the football team, senior class president and valedictorian of his graduating class in 1942.

He served his country in World War II in the US Navy Air Corps and later became a naval pilot and officer. After military service, he entered college at the University of Texas, then law school and began his law practice in Fort Worth in 1953. In 1986 he was elected judge of the 233rd District Court of Tarrant County. In 1988 he was elected chief justice of the Second Court of Appeals in Fort Worth. Judge Weaver was particularly proud that during his lifetime he was a member of the State Bar of Texas for over 60 years.
