Lila ‘Ellen’ Phelps

Lila “Ellen” Phelps, 89, beloved wife and mother, went to heaven on June 16, 2019. Ellen was born in Pratt, Kansas on Sept. 2, 1929 to Perry Watson and Mary Pearl Foulke (King).

She married the love of her life Irvin Bryan Phelps (Buddy) on May 31, 1946. Together they had eight children. They moved to Spur in 1999.

She was a homemaker, Sunday school teacher and worked with Home Health and Hospice. She was part of the Red Hat Society and Friends of the Library. Ellen had many hobbies that included genealogy, gardening, cooking, canning, knitting, crocheting and sewing. Ellen was best known as “Grandma” to all.

She was preceded in death by husband, Irvin B. Phelps, sons Irvin E. Phelps (Butch) and Daniel P. Phelps, and daughters Katherine S. Mosely and Lorie Getzinger.

Ellen is survived by sons Robert D. Phelps, Richard L. Phelps and David W. Phelps, daughter Linda J. Croddy, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday June 20, 2019, at the Community Bible Chapel in Spur. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday June 19 at Zapata Funeral Home in Spur.
