Daryl Rea Shafer, 1948–2020

Daryl Rea Shafer, 72, rode off into his final sunset in Matador, Texas, on June 3, 2020.

Daryl was born March 19, 1948, to Fred and Dorothy Louise (Rea) Shafer in Roscoe, Texas. Daryl was a master leather crafter. He loved being a cowboy and doing day working, and also enjoyed team roping.

Those left to cherish his memories are: his two sons; Will Shafer (Machell) of Spur, Texas, and Tim Shafer (Lorre) of Iowa Park, Texas; three brothers; Bodie Shafer (Sheila) of Fluvanna, Texas, Brent Shafer (Mary Jo) of Ira, Texas, and Joe Shafer (Bobbie) of Spur, Texas; four grandchildren, Rodey Shafer (Alexis), Cody Shafer (Hannah), McKena Shafer and Paden Shafer; one great-grandchild, Kaden Shafer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Daryl is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was held from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 7,, at Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton.

Graveside service were held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2020, at Espuela Cemetery in Spur, with Kevin Brendle officiating. Services were under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
