Billie Mae Moore, 1930–2021
CLOVIS, N.M.—Billie Mae Moore, 91, passed away October 26, 2021, in Clovis, New Mexico. A graveside service has already taken place.
Billie was born to Sam H. and Callie (Webb) Tucker August 12, 1930, in Albany, Texas. She lived in Moran until age 5 and graduated Abilene High School in Abilene, Texas. She married Thurmond Moore Jr. March 8, 1952, and resided in Lubbock, Texas.
Billie worked as a secretary to the principal at Abilene High School, at Southwest Public Service in Lubbock, and at the Children’s Home of Lubbock. She then moved to Spur, Texas, where her husband started farming and ranching.
Billie then became a secretary for R.A. Connor’s law office in Spur, working there for over 29 years until her retirement in 1992.
She was dedicated to her family and loved to be with her two grandchildren. Once her two great-granddaughters were born (ages 4 and 6), they also became a very important blessing to her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grand to her family. She loved to travel, and over the past 21 years she went on many bus tours with Lubbock Christian University Tours.
Her lifelong hobby was painting, both oil and watercolor. Her most fascinating sceneries to paint were clouds, water in rivers, streams, and rain. She left numerous paintings to be enjoyed by all. She was a longtime member of the Spur Art Guild.
She loved God with all her heart and was very actively involved in the Spur Church of Christ for over 60 years. She left a legacy for her family to put Christ first in their lives.
Although she was a Texas girl by heart, she moved to Clovis, N.M. in 2018 to be near family and lived out the rest of her days in New Mexico.
Billie is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Ron) Johnson of Clovis, N.M.; her son, Thurman (Pam) Moore of Spur, Texas; two grandchildren, Dustin Johnson (Kayla) of Colorado and Butni (Jared) Brock of Lubbock, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Eden and Elsie. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Callie Tucker; her husband, Thurmond Moore Jr.; her brother, Oliver Tucker; and two sisters, June Tucker and Mary Louise Woodward.
