Wanda Joyce Burrow, 1941–2002
81, of New Home, Texas, went to her heavenly home on August 18, 2022. Wanda was born in Girard, Texas, to George and Neva (Gunn) Smith on February 17, 1941. She attended Girard High School. Wanda married her high school sweetheart, R.S. “Sid” Burrow, on July 6, 1956, in Spur. They resided in New Home, Texas, since moving from Abilene in 1964. Wanda was a bookkeeper for Burrow Farms. Wanda enjoyed painting and cooking. She loved to travel and go on cruises. She was a very special person to so many and took them in as her own. Everybody lovingly referred to her as “Gran.” She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend.
Those left to cherish her memory is her son; Tony Burrow of New Home, Texas; a daughter, Reena and husband Bret Austin of Lubbock; one foster daughter, Denise and husband Lee Schilling; a daughter-in-law, Glenna Burrow; a brother, Dusty Smith of Lubbock; and grandchildren Cindi, Tim, Jami, Chase, Chad, Jason, Aaron, Trevor and Evan. Wanda was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, George and Neva (Gunn) Smith; her husband, R.S. “Sid” Burrow; and a son, Sidney Burrow.
The family will have visitation on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lakeridge Chapel and Memorial Designers in Lubbock, Texas.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Girard Cemetery, Girard, Texas, with Pastor Calvin Gray officiating, starting at 2 p.m. under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to New Home Baptist Church.
