Anne-Marie Ham, 1953–2023
CROSBYTON—Anne-Marie Ham, a resident of Crosbyton, Texas, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, February 13, 2023, at the age of 69. She was preceded in death by her parents, Macon and Evelyn Green Ulmer, of Lockney, Texas.
Anne-Marie was born July 30, 1953 in Littlefield, Texas. She served many offices in high school, including student body president, and graduated from Lockney High School as valedictorian in 1971. She attended West Texas A&M the first year and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with honors in 1974, with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in English.
On December 1, 1974, Anne-Marie married Max Ham from Quitaque, at the St. Alice’s Catholic Church in Plainview. She then resided in Quitaque, where she coowned and helped manage the Midway Drive-in movie theater between Quitaque and Turkey and worked at the First National Bank in Quitaque for a short time before starting her career as a homemaker.
In 1981 Anne-Marie began her career as a woman of many talents, including homemaker, mother, gardener, and painter, as well as a professional community and church volunteer. She moved to Crosbyton in 1989, where she served the community with many hats, including Cub Scout leader, active member and officer in United Methodist Women, treasurer at the United Methodist Church; she also served on the PTO at Crosbyton ISD. Anne-Marie also served in the Chamber of Commerce in Crosbyton and was an active member of Lions Club. In her later years she played the role of a businesswoman, managing storage units, serving on the board of directors at Citizens National Bank in Crosbyton, and serving on the board of directors at the Pioneer Memorial Museum. She volunteered for more community projects than can be mentioned, and she loved her community and church with a passion. Anne-Marie enjoyed people and gardening more than anything. She never met a stranger and always had an interesting conversation or story to share. Every year she hosted luncheons, brunches, showers and other events in her home or her back yard.
Anne-Marie was a woman who had many close friends. She loved fun stories, mothered many people, always had fun and saw the best in life. Anne-Marie spent time seeking to know the Lord as scriptures and prayers were on her lists and found throughout her house. Her prayers always seemed to be heard. Anne-Marie was an avid reader who loved her books, and one of her most frequented places was the Crosbyton library. She was an adventurer, and once went parasailing in a cotton field behind a four-wheeler pulled by her son Chase. Anne-Marie enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
Anne-Marie is survived by her husband, Max; her daughter, Traci Fowler and husband, Rick, of Fort Worth; her grandchildren, Coleson Elise Fowler and Weston Fowler of Fort Worth; her son, Chase Ham and wife, Katy of Crosbyton; her brother Jerry Ulmer of Plainview and wife, Patsy, and children Kace and Kelly; her brother Terry Ulmer of Coos Bay, Oregon, and wife, Laurice, and child Rachel; her sister, Rosemary Hammac and husband, Gary; her sister-in-law Kim Eudy and husband, Ron, and children Marshall, Gracie, and Parker; her brother-in-law, Lex Herrington and wife, Dana, and children Emery and Everett; her sister-in-law Lisa Welborn and her husband, Bud, and children Blake, Betsy, and Isabella; and her best friend she calls a sister, Arleen Nixon of Floydada. There are many others she considers family.
Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2023 at First United Methodist Church in Crosbyton, with Rev. Gary Eggart officiating. Interment was in Crosbyton Cemetery. Services were under the care and direction of Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton.
