Ina Thomason, 1935–2023
SPUR— Ina Thomason,
87, of Spur, Texas, was born April 19, 1935 in Graham, Texas. She passed away March 30, 2023 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Ina attended school in Spur, where she first met her sweetheart at eight years old. Ina married Darrell Thomason on June 9, 1951 at the Putman home in the Highway Community.
Darrell and Ina moved to Hereford in 1952 and began their farming career. While they were living in Hereford, Lynette, Kenneth and Kirk were born. The family moved to Spur December of 1962, purchasing their first of many cotton farms, the Old Home Place.
Ina was employed by Spur ISD for 24 years, working in the cafeteria and driving a school bus. Lisa was born during this time and completed their family. Ina returned to work at Spur ISD, working in the library, which was her favorite job at school.
Ina’s favorite place to be was on the farm. Ina could drive a tractor, run a module, build fences, hoe cotton and raise a family all at the same time. If you saw Darrell, then you saw Ina. They were never apart. After 72 years of marriage they were inseparable.
