Jimmy Alan Morgan, 1961–2024
WHEELER,TEXAS—Jimmy Alan Morgan of Wheeler, Texas passed away after a brief battle with cancer on January 25, 2024, at Parkview Hospital in Wheeler at the age of 62 years, 5 months, and 15 days.
Services will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Cornerstone Church in Wheeler. Interment will follow at the Mobeetie Cemetery. A viewing will be held at Robertson Funeral Home on January 27, 2024, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Wheeler.
Jimmy was born August 10, 1961, in Wellington, Texas to J.I. and LoRhae (McWhorter) Morgan. Growing up, Jimmy was active in Boy Scouts where he earned his Eagle Scout and FFA where he obtained his Lone Star FFA Degree. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1979 and Texas Tech University in 1983. After graduating he returned to Wellington to help his father run the family farm. During this time he met his wife of 37 years, Kimberly Hathaway.
He and Kimberly made their home in Quail, Texas and he began his teaching career at McLean and then Samnorwood. In 1997, Jimmy and Kimberly moved to Jayton where he taught Ag for 11 years. After their youngest daughter graduated in 2007, they decided to make the move to Wheeler where he taught Ag at Miami and then Kelton for 13 years. During his 31 years of teaching, Jimmy touched the lives of thousands of students and coached state and national winning teams. He loved his students and never stopped believing in the “future of agriculture”.
Jimmy attended Cornerstone Church and could be found helping lead music when asked. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and shared the word of God in foreign countries, various states, prisons, and with anyone and everyone he met. Jimmy was a farm boy at heart and enjoyed plowing his fields, checking his cows, and working outside. He shared this love with his grandchildren who could often be seen riding with him in his feed pickup or helping him plow. His love for life and neverending faith in God will be remembered by everyone who knew him and his passionate singing of “Oh What A Beautiful Morning” will forever be in our hearts.
Heisprecededindeathby his parents J.I. and LoRhae Morgan, a granddaughter Amelia Grace Pearson, and his mother-in-law Clarise Hathaway and a nephew Blake Hathaway.
He is survived by his wife Kimberly of Wheeler; 4 daughters, Krista Carver and Grant of Lewisville, Shelley Keys and Jared of Wheeler, Erika Francis and Jacob of Canyon, Keadron Pearson and Cole of Scott City, Kansas. 8 grandchildren, Karsyn, Braden, Bryson, Paul, J.I. Walker, Harlow and Samuel. 2 sisters Lennie Statham and Rusty of Wellington and Penny Morgan of Euless. In-laws Paul and Patsy Hathway, Dean and Nikki Hathaway, Dale and Kathy Hathaway and Wade and Gayla Hathway as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Parkview Hospital and staff, Wheeler EMS, and Wheeler Fire Department for their care for Jimmy and themselves during this time.
