MATADOR— Jasper Lynn (Mac) McAnally, of Matador Texas, on December 22, 2023, passed away, at his home in Matador, Texas, with his family by his side.

Mac was born on August 21,1941, to Lester McAnally and Lois Hutton McAnally in Spur, Texas. He attended school in Brownfield and Pecos, Texas, and after graduating enlisted in the Navy. He served on the first Polaris submarines, where their motto was “run silent, run deep.”

After 20 years Mac retired from the Navy and started a new career. He was employed by the state of California, working as chief engineer for San Quentin. Upon retiring he moved back to his beloved Texas, a move which he often was heard to say he never regretted.

He spent his remaining years happy to be home in Texas. Mac loved working on automobiles and all things electric. He was a huge lover of puppies, dogs, horses, kittens and cats.

Mac is survived by his wife, Lynette McAnally, of Matador, Texas; his son Dallas McAnally of Athens, Georgia; two sisters, LaNell DeJesus (Tony) and Lana Burnette (Ralph) of California; stepchildren Paul McCoy and Kristy Slankard of Oklahoma; nieces Teri Hartwig and Gloria Smyer; nephew Justin Burnette; and grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Lois; his sister Patsy Fulford; and nephews Keith Baker and Jarod Foshie.

So we say goodbye to our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend we say “run silent, run deep”— you were very kind, loving, amazing, and you were loved by your family and many friends. You were so loved and will be greatly missed by us all.
