Deanna Marie Rouse, 1954–2024

Deanna Marie Rouse passed away in Jayton, Texas, on October 11, 2024, at the age of 69. Deanna was born on December 6, 1954, in Kinsley, Kansas, to Richard Duane and Evelyn Marie Harris. She graduated from Dodge City High School in 1972.

Deanna was most known for her friendliness and strong work ethic. She had a successful career in retail management in Dodge City, Kansas, and later Wichita, Kansas. Deanna enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to Amy Grant, and spending time with her family.

Deanna moved to Jayton, Texas, in 2009 to be closer to her daughter and three granddaughters, who adored her. Deanna’s passing was unexpected but her family takes great comfort that she had a full and happy life, passing peacefully in her home.

Deanna was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Evelyn Harris.

She is survived by her daughter, Metessa Thomas and husband, Bryan, of Spur, Texas; three granddaughters, Chrissy Morris (Austin), Breyanna Thomas, and Kloe Thomas; two great-granddaughters, Everley and Charlotte; and three brothers, twin Doug (Lynn) Harris, Mitch (Renee) Harris and Scott (Joseph) Harris.

Graveside services for Deanna will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Steele Hill Cemetery with twin brother Doug Harris officiating under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home.
