Thelma Maurine Murdoch,
Thelma Maurine Murdoch, 79, of Lubbock, Texas, passed from this life Sunday morning, January 26, 2025, at Carillon House in Lubbock. She was born March 11, 1945, in Jayton, Texas, to James Trueman Murdoch and Arkie Evelyn Fincher.
She graduated from Jayton High School with the class of 1964. She later went on to work as a dental hygienist in Lubbock before joining the United States Air Force in 1971, where she served at the highest rank as Staff Sergeant. She received the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Good Conduct Medal, the Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Longevity Service Award for her 13 years of service. After her career in the Air Force, she worked at the Veterans Administration in Dallas for seven yearsm enabling her to retire.
Maurine was a steadfast, faithful sister, aunt, and friend. Those who knew her, knew how much she valued family making every effort to show up and be present with those she loved. She never missed a family function if she could help it.
She is survived by her two sisters, Violet Eva Porter of Odessa and Sarah Janelle Senne of Brackettville; two brothers, Trueman Dwain Murdoch of Morton and Charlie Elliott Murdoch of Jayton; and 13 nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Trueman and Arkie Evelyn Murdoch; her brother Darwin Gerald Murdoch; and a nephew, James Vance Murdoch.
A memorial service will be led by her niece and nephew, Dawnee and Tony Harp, on Thursday, February 6, at 2:00 p.m. in Lubbock at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
