The Dickens County 4-H club was named a recipient of Texas Farm Bureau’s 2022 Clover Cash Grant Program.

In the department’s monthly report subitted to the Spur city council Oct. 18, 2022, Spur police chief Billy R. Spears reported that police officers responded to 48 calls for service in the month of September 2022. These calls were itemized as follows: Information—10 Property return —3 Standby—3 Prowler—7 Domestic—2 Traffic Accidents—3 Theft—2 Unwanted Guest—1 Criminal Misc. —1 Disorderly Conduct—1 Missing Person—1 Sexual Assault of minor—1 1 Welfare check—2 Disturbance—1 Smoke report —1 Stalking-2 Escort—1 Criminal Trespass—2 Civil Question—1 Terroristic Threat —1 Public Intox.—1 ºChief Spears also reported that in September two misdemeanor arrests were made by the officers of the Spur Police Department, and one felony arrest was made by the Texas Rangers in relation to a Spur Police Department case of (sexual assault of minor).

Attending Spur’s called city council meeting of Nov. 7 were (from left) Caprock Waste’s district controller Joe Landon, district manager Bobby Fira, and technician Jeff Koch. Fira and Koch said they grew up in Crosbyton and were familiar with the Spur area and eager to begin serving customers. Together the men have some three decades of service with CaprockWaste.The company previously served Spur, until 2016. “This is our home,” said Landon, “so we’re very interested in investing in communities around us.”
