AREA CHAMPIONS The Jayton Jaybirds defeated the Lorraine Bulldogs 34 to 14 to win the Area Championship Friday night in Trent. The 11–1 Jaybirds will face district rival, Motley County, 12–0, for the regional quarterfinals title Friday, Nov. 26 in Idalou at 6 p.m. Jayton will be the visiting team.
Spur’s annual Late Night Holiday Shopping event, organized by the Spur Area Chamber of Commerce, will be Thursday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. throughout downtown.
State Representative Dustin Burrows (R-Lubbock) plans to visit Jayton Dec. 1 as part of a tour to introduce himself to communities that will shift to his district as of the March 2022 state election.
One man was arrested Friday afternoon, Nov. 12, in Spur on charges of aggravated assault as well as possession of a controlled substance, and two others on possession of a controlled substance following a “shock and awe” operation involving eight other agencies, according to Spur Chief of Police Billy R. Spears.
