The Patton Springs Rangers faced off against the Lions of Lubbock’s Christ the King Cathedral School on Thursday night on their home turf. Coming off of a battle from last week’s close loss, the Rangers would be looking to come back with some vengeance this week. Though they started the game off strong with two consecutive defensive stops, the Rangers would struggle to capitalize on them. The Lions would come on during the 3rd and 4th offensive possessions of the game and draw first blood. The Rangers however, would not go down without a fight, as sophomore Michael Garza (#20) picked his team up with a 45-yard onside return for a touchdown at the end of the 1st quarter. The Rangers and Lions would battle it out throughout the first two quarters, but with the ability of speed and quickness, the Lions pulled away with the game at the half. The Rangers failed to hold them on a final attempt to score before the half, and the game ended early with a score of 51-6. The Rangers will have a bye this week before jumping into district play against the Aspermont Hornets.
