DISTRICT CHAMPS The Jaybirds and Lady Jays both took home district championships Wednesday in Spur in Cross Country. For the varsity girls, regional qualifiers were Jace Chisum, 1st place; Daylee Chisum, 2nd place; Kamryn Nail, 3rd place; Remington Long, 4th pace; Abigail Mosley, 7th place; Reese Redford, 9th place; and Elizabeth Carpenter, 10th place. Spur ISD appeals ruling that resulted in forfeiture in Wellman-Union game

Spur Independent School District appealed the referee’s decision to eject three Spur players from the Oct. 6 Spur at Wellman-Union football game. According to Spur ISD superintendent Craig Hamilton, the school requested a reversal of the ruling from the Texas Association of Sports Officials (TASO) and the University Interscholastic League.

it was at SGA! We had several members come out to participate in the Club Championship tournament. Winning the title for the Senior women was Janie Day. Taking home the title for the Senior Men’s division was Floyd Starkey. Club member Tobi Abbott is this year’s Women’s Division Champion, with Tyler Luke claiming the Men’s Division title. Congratulations, everyone.

The Spurette cross country team may only consist of five, but they are ready to compete as a team for the Regional meet on October 23, 2023 at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.
