We had another great evening for our weekly Tuesday Scramble, with 46 people coming out to participate. It excites me that our numbers have seemed to grow each week. I am here to tell you, these scrambles are fun!
LEVELLAND— South Plains College congratulates more than 400 students who were named to the Spring 2024 President’s List. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 4.0 and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours. Braden Demoss of Jayton and Kyle Schledwitz of Afton achieved this honor.
Lily of the valley is the May birth flower. It is a sweet plant for the spring garden with its nodding, delicate, bell-shaped, white flowers that are borne on graceful, arching stems. The waxy flowers produce a sweet scent. Flowers last up to three weeks and when flowers are spent the glossy green leaves last into the summer.
AUSTIN— Texas House Democrats are urging Gov. Greg Abbott to call a special session to increase public school funding, while Abbott is criticizing them for opposing legislation last year that tied increased funding to his pet project — school vouchers. The Austin American-Statesman reported the Democrats sent a letter, written by Rep. Jon Rosenthal, D-Houston, calling for a 30-day special session focused on both increasing per-student funding and investing more in school safety.
In the regular monthly meeting of the Patton Springs Independent School District board of trustees on May 6, Interim Superintendent Bryan White presented current enrollment and attendance, end of year activities and awards. White also discussed 2024 preliminary values and an update on the portable building.
To the Concerned Citizens of Dickens County, I am Ricky West, and I attended the Meet the Candidates Thursday night in Spur. I feel sure that it was not intentional, but there was a lot of misinformation given out. Knowing the truth, I cannot sit by and not speak out.
