In last week’s news brief, “Spur City Council rejects water and sewer bids,” we reported that bids were rejected during council’s special meeting of Oct. 2. This turns out to be incorrect; council members instead recommended action to reject all bids at the upcoming regular council meeting, scheduled for Oct. 20, 2020. We regret the error.
In last week’s page-1 story on candidates for Jayton-Girard ISD school board, we ran a headshot of Katie Lackey (candidate for Kent County attorney) where the photograph of school board candidate Marsha Smith should have run. This is a correct photograph, as submitted by Smith. We regret the error.
It’s October, and you know what that means. Chills and scary stories are coming, although it kind of feels like the entire year has been this way. I’m not a fan of horror stories, but when the characters run, they die. So let’s face the creepy music together.
At the first meeting of its new program year, Mon., Oct. 19, 2020, the Spur Area Chamber of Commerce will install new officers and discuss fall projects and plans, including Trunk or Treat and Holiday Shopping.
If audience questions from last Thursday’s city council candidates’ forum are any indication, Spur residents care greatly about the state of their water supply infrastructure, their downtown buildings, their public safety, and their taxes.
