It was said many times this week that with both Paducah and Spur football teams already eliminated from postseason play, the game Friday night was about pride. It was about giving your school, your teammates, your coaches, your fans and yourself the kind of effort you could be proud of.
The Jayton Jaybirds faced an uphill battle last Friday night, with the Motley County Matadors bringing back five starters from a team that made the state final last year. Several media outlets and fans from all over the area were in attendance to see a #2-in-the state Motley County team that many had picked to beat Jayton handily.

SAN ANGELO—Angelo State University’s chapter of the Alpha Chi national honor society recently inducted 46 new members, including Avery Tanner of Spur, for the fall 2020 semester during a virtual ceremony.
The Spur varsity cross country boys team finished as district runner-up and regional qualifiers. Some of the Bulldogs ran their personal bests, and the team was four points behind the district champion Jayton Jaybirds.
