At press time, early Tuesday afternoon, the Spur City Council and the Spur Independent School District were facing uncontested elections. Texas election law, per the Secretary of State’s office, allows write-in candidates to file on the next business day until 5 p.m. after the filing deadline. The deadline to file for municipal and school elections was Friday, Feb. 17. However, because Monday, Feb. 21 was a holiday for most government and municipal offices and some school offices in 2023, the statutory deadline for write-ins was Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 5 p.m.
