Cities and school boards in Dickens and Kent Counties are now accepting applications for candidates to run for city councils and school boards, as of January 18. The deadline for candidates to file is Friday, February 17.
On Saturday, Jan. 21, local vendors and food purveyors are slated to offer their wares at the monthly Third Saturday Trade Days at the Spur Community Center, 502 Burlington Ave., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free, so come out and stock up on home-crafted goodies!

AUSTIN—Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said state sales tax revenue totaled $3.93 billion in December, 10.5 percent more than in December 2021. The majority of December sales tax revenue is based on sales made in November and remitted to the agency in December.
