Cap Rock Telephone Cooperative is hosting a photo contest for use on the cover of the company’s 2022 telephone directory. As in past years, Cap Rock invites photos from its service area: “landscape, wildlife, or any of the beautiful landmarks in the Rolling Plains.”

The Texas Midwest Community Network, a 19-county coalition promoting regionwide economic and community growth, will hold its 28th annual conference Oct. 27 in Abilene, Texas. Keynote Speaker Scott Joslove, president and CEO of the Texas Hotel & Lodging Association, will discuss uses of Texas Hotel Occupancy Tax and share the details of the emerging Tourism Public Improvement District initiative in the state.

Electric waffle irons have so any applications these days. People are using them in many interesting ways. For a couple of examples, I made calzones in my waffle iron a few weeks ago, and there’s the refrigerated cinnamon roll hack where you bake the rolls right in the waffle iron, then top with icing.

Stonewall staff, practitioners welcome public to “Meet the CEO”

Stonewall Memorial Hospital, the parent medical organization of Spur’s health clinic, fielded questions and provided an overview of operations at its facilities in Aspermont, Jayton and Spur Sept. 29 at the Senior Citizens Center in Aspermont. An audience of about fifty came to hear the update, though this crowd was reportedly a bit less than the previous month’s talk due to Covid-19 variant concerns.
