CAT CHAT On a sunny spring day in Quitaque last weekend, eighteen-month-old Wyatt Nash of Dallas enjoyed a sidewalk stroll with his parents, who were back in the region visiting with friends. Wyatt made a feline friend through the window. Caprock Canyons State Park reported day passes sold out throughout the spring break week, though crowds were laidback and the week largely uneventful once severe weather had passed through, according to park superintendent Donald Beard.

Spur to host bi-district One Act Play contest March 22

The first round of UIL One Act Play competition took place in the auditorium of Guthrie School March 9. Students from Jayton (above, top) performed Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Treasure Island,” which was adapted for stage by award-winning British dramatist Bryony Lavery. The cast and crew from Spur Jayton (above, bottom) performed a well-written take on a classic called “Oz” about recovering from tragedy by Don Zolidis. Guthrie students competed with the production of “Restless” by Craig Lucas. All three schools will perform again for the bi-district competition in Spur on March 22.
