JAYTON OAP ADVANCES The reigning state champion in 1A One Act Play, Jayton High School, took another step toward 2022 honors. The Jayton company of “Badger” was selected for area competition at last week’s bi-district competition in Post. Erielle Coulter and Abbie Mullen were selected as All Star Cast; Kennedy Gibson was named honorable mention All Star Cast; and Jaydon Rivera was named best light technician. Jayton OAP will compete at Area Saturday, April 1 at Frenship.

CrossView expecting return to pre-Covid capacity for 2022

Since its founding in Dickens County in 2000, CrossView Camp has welcomed troubled youth for summer residential camp sessions each June and July. It’s one of the few such Christian camps in the country that provides scholarships to a majority of its campers, said development director Kassi Appleton. But as with so many activities, the Covid-19 pandemic threw a wrench in plans and prevented the usual range of participation for the past two years.

Spur’s first farmers’ market of the season will be held Saturday, April 2 at across the street from Spur Hardware from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Spur teacher gets grant from Farm Bureau to restore greenhouse, create gardening initiative

Spur schools’ Myles Hammack, a teacher, applied for a grant from Texas Farm Bureau and received the $500 grant, plus an additional $200 from the Dickens County Farm Bureau.

FFA GRANT

FFA GRANT Capital Farm Credit has awarded grants to county 4-H and FFA clubs across Texas to help support youth and community agriculture projects. Spur FFA will use their Capital Farm Credit grant money to help pay for new welding tables, helping students to learn an important trade.
