PATTON FFA HONORS On May 5 Patton Springs competed in the District FFA contest. Eight banners were brought home; in addition, Patton had five area qualifying speeches and one district officer.
Prior to the regular monthly meeting of the Dickens County Commission on Monday, May 9, the court held a public hearing at 9 a.m., concerning the adoption of an ordinance for the purpose of approving a tax abatement agreement with Dickens BESS, LLC, the applicant and owner of an electric battery storage system.
AUSTIN – Memorial Day is the unofficial kickoff to summer, and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reminding drivers to celebrate safely as they enjoy their holiday. Today through May 30, the Texas Highway Patrol will participate in Click It or Ticket, as well as Operation CARE (Crash Awareness Reduction Effort). Click It or Ticket is an enforcement campaign that encourages people to wear their seat belts. Operation CARE is a specialized campaign in which Troopers look for drivers who are speeding, intoxicated or violating other laws. FAREWELL Spur’s coaching staff will have two departures this year: Coach David Castellon, the head basketball coach who has coached in Spur for four years, and Seth McMinn assistant football coach, who has coached in Spur for three years.
NHS INDUCTION Spur seniors and juniors were inducted into the National Honor Society earlier this month with special ceremonies to recognize their academic achievements.
The 3rd annual Hacker’s Tournament was held on May 21–22 at the Spur Golf Association. It was a great weekend of golf, and a good time was had by the 37 two-person teams who came out to participate.
