The Guthrie Lady Jaguars not only sit atop District 5-1A, which includes Spur, Jayton and Patton Springs, but for the week of January 5, in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches are ranked in the Top 25 in the state.

The Jayton Jaybirds boys’ basketball team started the new year ranked at number 9 in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll for January 5. The Jaybirds are nipping at the heels of district rival, Paducah, who is ranked number 8.

Kent County livestock show coming up Jan. 22–23

The 2021 Kent County Livestock Show at this point in time will proceed “as close to normal as possible” according to the show board, said Kent County extension agent Brandon Cave. The show is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Jan. 15 and 16, 2021, at the Kent County Show Barn in Clairemont.
