The first annual Golf’in with Nanna Debbie tournament was held at the course on June 25th and 26th. Nine three-person teams came out to scramble. This tournament was held to support the Debbie Daughtry Memorial Scholarship Fund, which is awarded by the Spur Ex-Students’ Association each year.
Tristen Martin, a 2022 graduate of Spur High School, spent a week in Washington, D.C., thanks to South Plains Electric Cooperative. Through the Government-in-Action Youth Tour, an annual program sponsored by electric cooperatives nationwide, Martin joined about 100 fellow Texans for this trip June 12–21, 2022.
ALL STARS Nick Ortiz (#6 red, left) and Austin Fulmer (#6 blue, right) were joined by Coach Tate Clark at the Brazos Bowl All Star Game Saturday in Strawn. Both players graduated from Spur last month.
PATTON FFA Diezel Ramirez and Melania Ramirez were two of the Patton Springs School students participating in last week’s week annual area leadership conference for the Future Farmers of America.
BACK IN BUSINESS Earlier this week City of Spur staffers connected city water to the Spur swimming pool bathhouse in preparation for restroom facilities to be available during the Big Dog BBQ Cook-Off this weekend. Donations and city pool funds paid for the restoration of this historic WPA-built structure, which has stood unused since 2009 after the pool closed. In the background is the pool that Argo Blockchain is in the process of revitalizing as a community service project.
