Texas FFA announces election of new state officers for 2022–23

On July 15, the Texas FFA Association announced the election of its new state officers for the 2022–23 school year. These twelve students will represent Texas FFA starting in the fall. While the area representatives will fulfill their responsibilities during their time in college, the president and firstvice president will take a gap year to carry out their duties. During their 365 days in office, they will work with 400 Texas schools to conduct leadership workshops and deliver keynote addresses. Serving as a state officer is regarded as one of the highest honors within the Texas FFA Association.

Texas Spur, Caprock Courier, Floyd County Hesperian-Beacon garner TPA awards

At the 142nd convention of the Texas Press Association, July 28–30, in San Marcos, The Caprock Courier, The Floyd County Hesperian-Beacon and The Texas Spur were among almost 80 Texas daily, semi-weekly, and weekly newspapers receiving annual awards for outstanding journalism in 18 categories in nine divisions ranked by circulation size; of these, 53 were weeklies in six divisions.

The Spur Senior Citizens Center, located at 210 Burlington Ave., will be serving a noon meal Monday through Friday. The dining room is open, or if you feel more comfortable during the Covid-19 pandemic, we are offering a curbside lunch you can reserve by calling (806) 271-4472. A donation is always appreciated. The cost for seniors over 60 is $4; everyone else is always welcome, for $8.
