Brenda Joy (Reagan) Swain, 78, of Spur, Texas, passed from this life and into the arms of Jesus on December 22, 2021. Brenda was born in Munday, texas, to JC and Mary Louise (Suggs) Reagan February 15, 1943. During Brenda’s life she was a hairdresser, bookkeeper, truck driver, and prison guard. Brenda loved her daughter and her grandkids dearly. She will be missed by so many people

New large-print books at the Spur library

The next shipment of large print books have arrived from the large-print circuit the library is participating in. We will have these books for three months and then ship them to the next library. This gives our patrons a chance to experience authors we normally wouldn’t have available at our library. The large-print circuit will send books by renowned authors as well as lesser-known but great authors just the same.

State’s workforce surpasses pre-pandemic high

AUSTIN—The Texas labor market exceeded the previous pre-pandemic high in February 2020 by hitting just under 13 million nonagricultural jobs in November, the Texas Workforce Commission reported last Friday. The adjusted jobless rate was 5.2% last month, down slightly from the previous month.

In the regular monthly meeting of the Dickens County Commissioners December 13, 2021, the court approved a tax batement for Broad Reach Power regarding its 200MW energy storage facility. The motion passed 4-1 with Dennis Wyatt voting against.
