I had the good fortune recently to spend three hours watching a Texas literary hero sign books for his many admirers. It was the most inspirational book signing I’ve ever witnessed.

The Spur Masonic Lodge Pancake Supper was a key destination in last week’s Spur Late Night Shopping festivities. The winner of the fundraiser’s grill raffle was Bryan Thomas of Spur, who is holding his granddaughter, Everly. Presenting the grill is Spur Masonic Lodge Worshipful Master John Schmidt. The Masons sent a special thank you to Jeremy Rutledge, Cade Rutledge and Spur Hardware for the donating the grill, and they also thanked everyone who came out and supported this scholarship fund drive. According to lodge member Kevin Brendle, the benefit was their biggest one yet.

Chances are, you’ve heard of the spherical craze called cocoa bombs. It’s a fun, creative way to make a cup of hot cocoa. In fact, it’s a hot chocolate “experience.” Not only is it exciting to prepare the spheres, it’s magical to drop them in to the warm milk and watch them melt away, exposing the hidden ingredients.

Spur’s annual Late Night Shopping turned out quite a crowd this year. It was good to see all of the familiar faces going from booth to booth checking out the vendors’ wares. Everyone was looking for stocking stuffers, Christmas gifts for loved ones, or something good to eat or drink.
