Sparky Eckles had an 80th birthday celebration recently in Spur. He and Barbara welcomed their four “girls” and their husbands, 12 “grand blessings” and 7 great-grands into their home for the party.
WINTER STARGAZING Copper Breaks State Park, near Quanah, Texas, will be hosting a winter stargazing event, “Marvel at the Moon,” on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. Visitors can experience the winter night sky as rangers use the park's telescope to show a closer view of the moon’s surface and rangers will share its stories and legends.
Football playoff games stir up a big appetite, and lots of excitement this time of year. The Super Bowl has practically become a national holiday. In recent years there is evidence that lots of football fans even take off work the Monday after the big game. And many employers see an increase in “sick” day call-ins that particular day.
The library will be having craft night on Monday, Feb. 7, from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. We have had quite a few requests for book folding by people who have not been able to make it to our previous book folding classes. Since February is the month for Valentine’s Day we will fold the books into a heart shape. Everyone is invited to join us. The library will furnish the books, the patterns and the pencils. You will just need to bring a ruler with centimeters and a bone folder. We have something that will work for a bone folder if you don’t have one.
