JGISD JH OAP WINNERS Congratulations go out to the Jayton Junior High One Act Play for winning district competition last week. Hillary Bleiker and Kristi Tidmore advised the company. Honors went to Reese Redford for Best Actress; Colt Gentry, Dayton Bleiker and Sidney Hall for All Star Cast; and Jace Chisum, Azriel Vargas, Lainey Baldridge for Honorable Mention All Star Cast.

END OF THE ROAD The 2021 Spur Bulldogs accomplished what no Spur team had achieved in a generation by winning district and being undefeated in district, and finishing the regular season with a 10–1 record. Spur fans packed Jackrabbit Stadium in Ralls to see the Bulldogs lose a close area playoff game to Valley 66 to 54.

Friday night at Cardinal Stadium in Hermleigh, a fading golden sunset brought on an array of reflections. Light bounced off huge wind turbines, rotating in the breeze. The athletic complex, brought to fruition by said turbines, was an island of artificial turf in an ocean of cotton fields with blinding white light bouncing off the bolls of a bumper cotton crop.

FFA EXCELLENCE Patton Springs FFA competed in the FFA Leadership Development district competition last week and earned the following honors in a variety of events: 2nd place in Greenhand Chapter Conducting; 3rd place in Job Interview; 3rd place in Senior Skills; 3rd place in Junior Skills; 4th place in Junior Quiz; 7th place in Quiz; 9th place in Senior Quiz; and 10th place in Radio Broadcasting.
