TINY TOWNS AND TINY HOUSES A group of leaders from the Lamb County cities of Amherst and Sudan visited Spur June 30 at the invitation of former county judge Woodie McArthur, who serves on the board of the South Plains Association of Governments. Meeting at the Spur Dickens County Museum, the group discussed ways that West Texas towns can provide housing for residents and workers while repurposing available city lots and structures. Spur tiny-house resident Carol Haefner offered her viewpoints, praising Spur as a place where “something old is new again.” Visitors, who included Richard Salazar of Sudan, Rosa Angel of Amherst, and Dwayne and Sue Montgomery of Amherst, posed questions about marketing, utility infrastructure, ordinances, and other practicalities.
