At last week’s state FFA Agriscience conventioninHouston—which also faced challenges from the arrival of Hurricane Beryl— Jayton-Girard FFA proved that one of the smallest schools can compete. All six teams placed in the top three at State, and they competed against all classifications of schools. The team of Griff Reel and Jace Rivera took 1st place in Animal Systems; Garrison Allen placed 2nd in Plant Systems, Division 3; the team of Jarret Herzog and Caleb Herzog placed 2nd in Environmental Services/Natural Resources Systems, Division 6; the team of Sidney Hall and Reese Redford placed 3rd in Food Products and Processing, Division 4; Sean Stanaland and Daylee Chisum placed 3rd in Food Products and Processing, Division 6; and Colt Gentry placed 3rd in Animal Systems, Division 3. | COURTESY PHOTOS
