The months prior to the stock market crash of October 1929 saw a construction boom in downtown Spur. The Texas Spur of May 24, 2020, noted several new enterprises under way in addition to the $25,000 contract let on the Palace Theatre building. It’s interesting to note the location “just south of the new Masonic Hall now under construction” (at 426 Burlington, which is no longer extant)—meaning that the current Texas Spur building at 424 Burlington did not yet exist.
