At its regular meeting June 8, 2020, the Kent County Commissioners’ Court reported that the sheriff’s department has hired and sworn in a new deputy, Jerry Gonzales. After some discussion about the best way to facilitate affordable local housing for the deputy, the court proposed and approved a plan to create a county-owned RV space on 4th Street near the courthouse, for which the deputy will pay rent with utilities included.
