Oct. 26 is National Pumpkin Day

Pumpkinsare one of the crops that have their origin in the Americas. They have been around a long time, dated to 5,000 B.C.E. after their discovery in Mexico. Because they are almost an American identity, a special day has been set aside to celebrate pumpkins. October 26 is National Pumpkin Day.

Early voting now underway: a county-by-county guide

Early voting for the Nov. 7, 2023, Special Election to adopt or reject the proposed Constitutional Amendments as submitted by the 88th Legislature began Monday, Oct. 23. While there are no big-ticket races like president, governor or senator on this year’s ballot, Texas voters will get to decide the fate of several proposed constitutional amendments arising from legislation passed earlier this year by state lawmakers.

Porcupine avoidance training set for Oct. 21

A “Porcupine Avoidance Training” for dogs will be held at the Rolling Plains Quail Research Ranch between Roby and Snyder on Saturday, October 21 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
