In February 2022, Patti Abbott resigned her position as Dickens County chief appraiser after serving the county for 14 years. Abbott left Dickens CAD with well wishes, as she had accepted a new position with the state comptroller’s office in the property tax assistance Division as a methods and assistance program reviewer (MAP Reviewer).

The recent move of AEP Texas’ technical facility from Burlington Avenue in Spur to a new building 24 miles away in Jayton marks an improvement in the electrical service provider’s efficiency, according to the company that handles electrical transmission for its customers.

IN TURKEY In last Saturday’s Bob Wills Day BBQ Cook Off in Turkey, Texas, Spur cook Reid Arnold’s Out on a Limb BBQ team took 1st place in Brisket, racking up a total of 472.98 points to finish 9th in the overall competition. Amy Tanner of Spur-based Happy BBQ took second place in barbecue turkey, with 163.32 points.
