The Highway 70 Yard Sale event on May 1 is back in a big way for this year. At press time Monday afternoon, the event had almost 50 yard sales planned for Saturday in a 94-mile stretch from Jayton to Turkey.
In the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Jayton- Girard Independent School District board on April 20, 2021, trustees voted to approve a contract offering the superintendent of schools position to Layne Sheets, currently superintendent with Dawson ISD in Dawson County, Texas.

WHAT A CATCH! Pablo and Willie Ortiz of Spur enjoyed warmer weather with a trip to White River Lake, where they caught a number of crappie. A.O. Smith at the White River Marina says the crappie and bass are biting, and those fishing have had their best luck with minnows.
TEXAS STAR The Kent County Lions Club drew a winner April 18 following their Meet the Candidates Forum in Jayton following a multi-week raffle to win a hand-crafted piece of wall art.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has extended the Individual Assistance registration period for Texans impacted by the winter storm. According to Governor Greg Abbott, the extension comes at the request of the state and encompasses all 254 counties.

I’ve baked many styles of cakes but have been very curious about this particular one. The Brittany region in France is well known across Europe for their superb butter. They use a very old technique of pressing the water from the butter as it is formed from the cream. Their tradition is tried and true.
